My proudest moment so far in my baking journey was winning my first awards with Taste of The West in 2019. I just couldn't believe that I didn't just win one gold but three! I'm so incredibly grateful for all my wonderful customers who have supported my business through thick and thin (covid lockdowns being one of them) and who continue to buy my cakes thirteen years on. I still get a thrill when I see someone eating my cake in a cafe!
My first awards were for my Lemon Drizzle, Sticky Gingerbread and Raspberry Almond Blondies. Not only did I win gold for all three but I was asked to supply the awards ceremony with my Raspberry Almond Blondies as part of the dessert plate - what an honour! More than 300 people sat down that day at the awards and experienced an amazing three-course meal, consisting of products and ingredients supplied by the winners that year. I can't tell you how exciting it was but also how utterly nerve-wracking watching all these food critics, business owners, chefs and foodie professionals eat my blondies right in front of me! The feedback and comments from everyone were amazing and such a confidence-boost.
Luckily for me, several more awards followed during the years after with the most recent one for 2024 being a gold award for my Carrot Cake, a firm favourite for the cafes and delis I currently supply ;) If you'd like to read a bit more about my awards you can do so here.
